Our Comprehensive Dental Services
Dr. Petersen at Marina Hills Dental is a family dentist dedicated to caring for all your dental health needs, from regular cleanings to extensive restorative and cosmetic work. The high-
quality care we provide to your family helps each of you get and maintain beautiful, healthy
smiles. Your oral health is closely tied to your body’s overall health, so it’s important to take care of your smile!
Prevention is the best way to avoid extensive, costly, and even invasive work done on your teeth later. Visiting our office regularly – about every six months or so – lets us keep a close eye on your dental health and address any issues before they cause major problems.
There may be times when routine visits aren’t enough to keep your smile as healthy as possible.
Spring Creek dentist Dr. Petersen may recommend restorative work to give you back healthy teeth that look, feel, and function better than ever before.
These fillings look more natural than traditional amalgam (silver) fillings. They also require less prep work and are smaller than silver dental fillings, so Dr. Petersen is able to leave more of your tooth’s healthy structure in tact.
Crowns cover teeth that are cracked to give your tooth strength and protect it from further damage. We also place crowns as dental implant restorations. If you’ve had a dental implant placed to replace a missing tooth, we can fabricate and place a crown on top to complete the implant process and give you a complete smile again.
Bridges are used to “bridge” the gap caused by a missing tooth or teeth. A dental bridge connects to crowns placed on either side of the gap, and a false tooth sits in place of each missing tooth.
Start-to-finish dental implants
Dr. Petersen is trained in all aspects of implant dentistry, so he can take care of most of your implant needs right here in our Spring Creek office. A dental implant is a small titanium post that is placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone, creating a strong anchor for a restoration. Single-tooth implants are usually topped with a crown, while multiple implants are paired with either a dental bridge or a denture. If your jawbone isn’t healthy or strong enough for an implant, Dr. Petersen can perform a bone graft to build up the jawbone in preparation for an implant.
We can also fit you for implant-supported dentures or partial dentures. This involves the strategic placement of four implants with small ball-joint heads. We’ll then drill holes into your denture that line up with the new implants. Your denture then snaps into place over the implants, giving you a secure fit with no slipping.
Dentures & partial dentures
If you’re missing most or all of your teeth, or maybe an entire arch, Dr. Petersen may recommend a denture or partial denture. Dentures can help preserve the shape of your face and jaw, as well as improve the overall appearance of your smile. Thanks to improvements in materials, dentures are more comfortable than ever before and look more natural, too! The fitting of your dentures will take a few appointments, but once we’ve determined the fit is right, you’ll be back to eating your favorite foods and smiling with confidence again.
Root canal therapy
Root canal therapy is often the best way to save a severely infected tooth that is causing you unbearable pain. A root canal consists of cleaning out the infected tooth pulp, filling and sealing the inside of the tooth to keep bacteria out, and placing a crown on top to give the tooth additional strength. You may have heard that root canals are painful, but we’re here to tell you that the pain you’re in from the damaged tooth is worse than any discomfort you may feel during the procedure. Plus we offer sedation to keep you comfortable.
Wisdom teeth extraction
Wisdom teeth extraction may be necessary when the additional set of molars begin to erupt. Oftentimes, there isn’t enough room in the mouth for the teeth to come in properly, so they cause shifting among your other teeth or they become impacted and infected. Extracting the teeth before they fully erupt lets us save you from potentially needing more extensive work down the road.
We know that many of our patients feel uneasy about visiting our office. Dental anxiety can even keep patients away from us for far too long. To help all of our patients get the care they need without the nerves that the dentist can cause, we offer nitrous oxide. Also called laughing gas, patients inhale this sweet-smelling gas through a mask that we put over their nose and mouth. The heightened sense of relaxation that the gas causes allows patients to feel comfortable while we get to work. We’ll be done before you know it, and because the effects are quickly reversed, you can get back to your life fast.
